Largely constructed by the Civilian Conservation Corps during the Great Depression, this public recreation area is a well-known nature escape among residents of Nashville, Brentwood, and other nearby cities.

Welcoming an average of one million visitors each year, Montgomery Bell State Park is located a little over 40 miles west of the Brentwood city center and can be reached in 45 minutes by car via route I-40. Some of the facilities you will find here include plenty of nature trails for hiking and mountain biking, fishing piers, a golf course, public boat launching ramps, and a large campground.

3. Couchville Cedar Glade State Natural Area

Another sprawling nature reserve boasting one of the largest populations of the Tennessee coneflower, Couchville Cedar Glade State Natural Area is a place where you can spend an entire day hiking, birdwatching, or simply enjoying nature. Located on the eastern shores of Percy Priest Lake, this place can be reached in about 20 minutes by car from downtown Brentwood, driving 15 miles northeast along routes I-65 and I-40.
